Assistive Learning Technologies and Quiet Study Rooms

AlmaReader Text-to-Speech Software

Following the transition to remote learning, the university has acquired an institutional license for the AlmaReader text-to-speech software. This aims to assist all university students, including those with learning and other disabilities, and students for whom Hebrew is not their first language, in overcoming reading difficulties and improving study efficiency.

All students have access to the software via their university email accounts starting from April 18 and throughout the second semester.

Note: The license is temporarily suspended during August and September and is renewed following.

A limited number of permanent licenses with extended features are available for students who apply to the Unit (priority is given to students with challenges).

Students interested in an extended license may submit a request via email:

Accessible Workstations on Campus

There are 11 accessible workstations across the university’s libraries and computer labs. These stations include:

  • Adjustable electric desks

  • Wide-screen monitors

  • AlmaReader, ABBYY, and screen magnification software

If you need an accessible workstation and cannot locate one, please ask a librarian for guidance.

Assistive Software

Some software is free, while others require licensing. University-provided computers in accessible workstations and quiet study rooms are equipped with assistive software for student use.

Quiet Study Rooms

Each Student Support Center offers quiet study rooms, equipped with computers featuring reading assistance software. These rooms are open until the evening, and in some locations, are also available on weekends.
