Law Clinics in Shrinking Democracies

On 10 July 2023, Hebrew University’s Clinical Legal Education Center organized a live webinar titled “Law clinics in shrinking democracies”.
The Webinar brought together legal clinicians working in declining democracies to discuss ways in which law clinics can carry out their educational and practical work despite a shrinking space for defending rights of minorities and other disadvantaged populations.
The Webinar was held in response to the new laws proposed by the current government of Israel - laws which seek to reduce the independence of the Israeli judiciary and limit the judicial review powers of the Supreme Court and weaken the government legal advisors.
The Webinar was organized under the Fried-Gal Transitional Justice Program and sponsored by the Global Alliance for Justice Education (GAJE).
