Forthcoming Special Issue of International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction (IJDRR) on the topic of Cascading Effects in Disaster Risk Science: Multi-Disciplinary Perspectives. Based on the International Workshop on Cascading Disaster Held at the Technion in November 2018. Publication date: early 2020.
The first day was devoted to an academic workshop and the second day to an open public meeting and site visits.
The latter included a tour of the Haifa Municipality Emergency Command Center and the Rambam Medical Center Emergency Hospital facility.
Background: The intention of this workshop is to address the topic from multi-disciplinary perspectives, including, but not limited to, approaches based in hazards engineering and planning, social and environmental sciences and policy, sociology and social work, public health and emergency medicine, computational modelling and economics.
On 30/5/18, a delegation from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan visited the Israeli research team in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The delegation included:
