Testing a new bio-detection scheme for counting COVID-19 viral particles

7 April, 2020

With the current COVID19 pandemic, we have diverted our attention to accelerate a few ideas we now translate towards several alternative detetion schemes of COVID19. The focus we chosen is to minimize the test time, and the sample handling required for nowadays golden-standard assays relying on RT-qPCR.

One of the project is focused on testing a detection scheme we already have, for is use to detect intact viral particles as they occur in the collected sample. We have proposed to focus on several signals specific to the COVID19 particle, that when ae coincidentally detected, can be counted as the viral particle. We have recently got funded to support this development. We would like to thank the Milner fund for supporting this timely project (and the Hebrew University for assisting funding such impotant ad-hoc project on COVID19).
