Special interest

Gastro-intestinal, liver, and pancreatic diseases of small (companion) animals, with an emphasis on the role of the intestinal microbiome in developmental and acquired diseases of these organs.

Research

  • Acute & chronic pancreatitis in dogs,
  • The role of the intestinal microbiome in various diseases – fading puppy syndrome, hepatic lipidosis in cats, antibiotic-responsive enteropathies in dogs, diarrheic and non-diarrheic dogs infected with Giardia spp., and gastro-intestinal diseases in working dogs.
  • Fecal microbiome transplantation in dogs and cats

International interest

Collaborative research in my areas of interest with researchers from the Gastro-intestinal laboratory in Texas A&M University, University of Davis, University of Pennsylvania and Cambridge University, as well as with Israeli microbiome researchers
