China Scholarship Council (CSC) – Hebrew University of Jerusalem Scholarship Program (2022-2023)

Program Overview
This program provides scholarships for 20 selected PhD students (full degree and sandwich), postdoctoral students and visiting scholars from Chinese institutions each year, to engage in doctoral (12 – 48 months) and post-doctoral level research (12 – 24 months) at HUJI, and to host visiting scholars for academic visits of 3-12 months.

Excellence Fellowship Program for International Postdoctoral Researchers

The Council for Higher Education in Israel and the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities are pleased to announce the 5th call of the Excellence Fellowship Program in Israel for outstanding international postdoctoral researchers. This program signifies Israel’s commitment to the promotion of international scientific collaborations and to the advancement of world-class research. Through this initiative, Israel offers top recent PhD graduates (up to 4 years from graduation) of all academic disciplines the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in Israel with leading scientists and scholars in their field.

 

This program replaces the Council of Higher Education Postdoctoral Fellowships for China and India, which is no longer being offered.

Funding: Up to 20 fellowships will be awarded for two years in the amount of 160,000 NIS (~$48,000) per year.

Fulbright Post-doctoral fellowship

Applications for the 2022/23 awards cycle are now open.

Fulbright Israel is looking for the brightest and most innovative scholars who aspire to research in Israel and join the Fulbright heritage.

Fulbright Israel administers the Fulbright Academic Program in Israel, and plans to award fellowships to U.S. postdoctoral scholars who seek to pursue research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Grants are open to researchers in all academic disciplines and support research programs in Israel for up to 20 months (two academic years).

 

Funding: $95,000, for two years ($47,500 per year), reimbursement of airfare expenses (U.S. – Israel, under the Fly America act) for Fulbright fellows (and spouses), partial reimbursement of children’s education expenses and fees and additional relocation funding of up to $9,000 relocation reimbursement granted by The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowship in Israel

The Azrieli Foundation offers 24 fellowships each year to outstanding postdoctoral students from outside of Israel, interested in conducting research in Israel in all fields of research.

Fellows from all fields - natural and life sciences, social sciences and humanities - will receive funding for two years, with the potential to extend the scholarship for a third year on the basis of excellence.

 

The online application for the 2023–24 cohort opens September 1, 2022 and closes on November 15, 2022.

The program includes:

  • Annual scholarship of approx. €53,000 (ILS 188,000) to cover living and research expenses (a monthly stipend of NIS 14,000 + A yearly research budget of NIS 20,000)
  • Support staff dedicated to the wellbeing of all program fellows and their families throughout their stay in Israel
  • Enrichment activities and unique opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross-cultural exchange, leadership training, community engagement, and professional mentorship
  • Opportunity to take part in a growing network of outstanding early career scientists and scholars

Note! A maximum of 24 Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded each year: up to 18 Fellowships in STEM fields, up to three in humanities and up to three in social sciences.
In STEM fields, the academic sponsor will finance 25 percent of the stipend, totalling ILS 84,000 for two years.

The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust

The Lady Davis Trust was established over 40 years ago to provide the opportunity for leading scientists and scholars, Post-doctoral Researchers and Doctoral Students from abroad, regardless of nationality, gender or field of scholarship to teach, study and participate in research in Israel at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust is open to all disciplines studied at the Hebrew University.

Joint Berlin-Jerusalem Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program

Joint Post-Doctoral Fellowships are offered for highly qualified, early career post-doctoral researchers, in all fields. Each fellowship is awarded for 24 months, and consists of two phases:

Phase 1: 12 months of research at Freie Universität Berlin

Phase 2: 12 months of research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

(or vice versa) 

Funding: A monthly stipend of 2,000 Euro and a one-time relocation allowance (2,000 Euro)
