Volunteering

Volunteer work is a meaningful way in which to immerse yourself in the heart of the local community, to experience Jerusalem’s mosaic of cultures and peoples from within, and to bond with colleagues and peers while giving back to the community in a significant way. What’s more, volunteer experience often translates into valuable life skills that will benefit you personally and professionally down the line. Jerusalem offers a wealth of volunteering opportunities for international students, a fraction of which are mentioned below: 

The Jerusalem Botanical Gardens
If you’ve got a green thumb, the Garden Club Volunteer Program at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens may be just the right place for you. Hadassah Medical Center
Hadassah Medical Center is an Israeli medical organization that operates two university hospitals at Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus, as well as schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing and pharmacology affiliated with Hebrew University. The center welcomes volunteers to work together with nursing staff, in the service laboratories, or in various tasks related to patient comfort and care. Meir Panim
Meir Panim is an NGO that runs local restaurants where low-income individuals are served nutritious meals, free of charge. If you’d like join this important initiative, you can register here.
