Partnership History
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has been partnering with the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, since 2007 and with the University of Illinois, Chicago, since 2010. These partnerships were reaffirmed and expanded in 2017 and 2019, respectively. In 2019, Hebrew University signed an agreement to be a partner in a new research institute, the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI), led by the University of Illinois System, which will foster broad-based collaboration to solve the world’s greatest challenges.
Hebrew University will contribute unique expertise to DPI in three vital areas: entrepreneurship; food and agriculture; and computing, including big data, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Highlights
As a means of boosting collaboration, Hebrew University and the University of Illinois System launched a Joint Research and Innovation Seed Grants Program in May 2020 for joint research projects in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, agriculture and medicine. The goal of these grants is to promote economic development through research and development of innovative technologies, while facilitating cooperation between the two universities. Ultimately, the program aims to deliver talent, innovation, and resources from within the collaborating universities to the marketplace. The program will be interdisciplinary in nature, and the review process will include an assessment of the innovation and commercialization potential.

The University of Illinois System (U of I) is a world leader in research and discovery, and the largest educational institution in the state with more than 90,000 students and about 26,000 full-time equivalent faculty and staff. It comprises three universities in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield. The U of I System awards more than 23,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees annually.
The Discovery Partners Institute empowers people to jumpstart their tech careers or companies in Chicago. Led by the University of Illinois System in partnership with top research universities, the Institute has three main missions: to train people for high-demand tech jobs, conduct applied R&D, and support Chicago’s tech community. With state investment and a new innovation district in development, DPI has the resources to attract, develop and leverage the most ambitious people and companies the region has to offer.

Partnership History
The Hebrew University and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) began collaborating in January 2021 by establishing a Memorandum of Understanding, a student exchange agreement, and a joint Call for Collaborative Research and Exchange Activities.
Highlights
The joint Call for Collaborative Research and Exchange Activities established in 2021 promote collaborative research and exchange. It was open to all fields of study, with a particular interest in interdisciplinary research.
Information About Partner Institution
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IIT’s created to be a Centre of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India.
Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.” In 2018, IIT Delhi received the special status of Institution of Eminence (IoE) by the Govt. of India, giving it a greater autonomy in various matters including hiring of foreign faculty and starting collaborations with foreign institutions.
Since its inception, over 55,000 students have graduated from IIT Delhi in various disciplines including Engineering, Sciences, Design, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences. Of these, nearly 6,000 received Ph.D. degrees, over 21,000 students graduated with B.Tech. degree and the rest obtained Master’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences and Business Administration. These alumni today work as scientists, technologists, business managers and entrepreneurs for the building of the Indian nation as well as industrialization around the world.

Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA

Partnership HistoryIn 2017, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Hebrew University`s Center for Nanotechnology and Nanoscience and the School of Pharmacy signed an agreement of academic cooperation and exchange for students and faculty.
Highlights
The collaboration between the Lerner Research Institute at Cleveland Clinic and Hebrew University`s Center for Nanotechnology and Nanoscience and School of Pharmacy led to the establishment of the Center for Transformative Nanomedicine (CTN). The virtual center is spearheading new treatments for cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. To date, 5 collaborative research projects on drug development and drug delivery by leading Cleveland Clinic and HUJI scientists have been approved, in the fields of breast and brain tumors, kidney disease and Alzheimer disease.
In addition, a PhD student training program in nanotechnology/biomedical sciences for HUJI graduates at the Lerner Research Institute at Cleveland Clinic was established through the Center for Transformative Nanomedicine at HUJI, and students are mentored by scientists from both institutions.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation owns and operates the Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit American academic medical center based in Cleveland, Ohio, ranked as one of the best hospitals in the United States. Cleveland Clinic was at the forefront of modern medicine when its founders opened it as a multi-specialty group practice in 1921. In its first century, the Clinic has introduced many medical firsts and opened facilities around the world. Now, 100 years later, the vision of the founders remains Cleveland Clinic’s mission: caring for life, researching for health, and educating those who serve.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was founded in 1896. As a comprehensive university, SJTU offers 71 undergraduate programs covering 9 major disciplines: economics, law, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and arts. Partnership History
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Peking University launched their cooperation in 1992 and have since initiated many joint projects, including a well-established student exchange program. In 2014, Hebrew University’s Confucius Institute was inaugurated with support from Peking University. The institute’s aim is to promote research on Chinese culture and history, inform a broader audience about China’s society, economy and government, and enhance mutual understanding between the two countries. As part of this cooperation project, instructors from Peking University have taught at Hebrew University and HUJI students have attended online courses offered by Peking University.

The Hebrew University and TUM (Technical University of Munich) first began cooperating in 2010 with an active student and faculty exchange agreement. In 2015 the universities agreed to an Erasmus + student and faculty exchange in the following fields: Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, and Political Science.Highlights
