Saving Files on Public computers

During the course of work, frequent saving should be performed in several places as a backup. The integrity of the information you have depends on it.  Because failures sometimes occur, be sure to keep saving.

The university computers are protected from changes. Therefore, never save on C drive or on the desktop.  The system makes it possible to temporarily save on C drive but after booting the computer the files will be deleted! There is no guarantee for material that will be stored on computers!

During work, it is recommended to save on E drive. Upon completion of the work, the files must be transferred to the personal drive- K drive.

Recommended Option: Personal drive- K drive

The password for public computers gives access to a personal drive on the university network (K drive). Access to the drive will be possible after the login process. To open it, you can click on the left side of the desktop on the folder icon. In the software menus, you can identify K drive, according to the username which will appear next to it.

It is important to remember that the K drive is limited in its memory space (for students 500 MB and for academic and administrative staff 5 GB). Therefore, please use it only to save files necessary for your studies.

Hard Drive- E Drive

This drive belongs to a specific computer that you have decided to work on. On this drive you can save unusually large files, but they can not be accessed from any other computer. Files that are stored on E drive are not protected and can be deleted by a user who logged on after you, but they are not automatically deleted.

Note: Do not save files to C drive. These files will be deleted when the user is disconnected or the computer is shut down due to a problem
