Deganit Paikowsky
Dr. Deganit Paikowsky is a lecturer at the department of International Relations. She brings a unique focus, and
first- hand experience in the interface and interrelations between world politics and technological domains, specializing in space, cyber and emerging technologies. Her book, "The Power of the Space Club", published by Cambridge University Press in 2017, explores the role of nation-state clubs in world politics using the case study of the space club. Deganit holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Tel Aviv University and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute for International Relations at the Hebrew University.
In 2017-2019, Deganit served in a senior position at the Strategy and Capacity Building Division of the Israel National Cyber Directorate. In 2010-2016, she served as the coordinator of three different national committees for Israel's civil space policy. She was part of the establishment team of and later Academic Director for the Yuval Neeman Workshop for Science, Technology and Security at Tel Aviv University where she developed the research portfolio and established a Global Space Activity group and a Global Cyber Activity group, both of which supported governmental decision making process in these areas.
In October 2019, Deganit was appointed as Vice President of the International Astronaucitcal Federation (IAF), under her portfolio is advancing diversity initiatives and new space economy.
Dr. Paikowsky is a 2017-2018 Fellow of the International Women's Forum Leadership Foundation, and is a mother of three boys.
